How it all began...

John Sydney Haines AM and his family founded The Haines Group (THG) in 1959. With a family background in boat building and fishing, John honed his craft from an early age before using his skills and experience to build THG into an enviable business empire which is today, a marine industry leader.

John was a keen offshore racer and along with his brother Garry, won numerous national titles and trophies, but his skills as a boat designer and builder were where his true prowess lied. What is not readily known is that he was self taught through many hours of application, investigation and dedication – traits and skills which he passed on to his family, in particular in two sons, John Jnr and Greg. Haines Signature Boats has gone on to become Australia’s most-awarded boat builder, and John was awarded an Order of Australia medal in 2004 in recognition of his commitment to the marine industry.

THG is still a family owned and run business and John's legacy and influence continues to be upheld every day, with every boat that leaves our factory.

We strive to continue to set the benchmark for trailerable fibreglass boats in Australia today and build each boat with our Haines Signature DNA, so that our customers can be confident on the water knowing they’re on board Australia’s best built boat.

The superior quality of our boats and attention to detail are backed by our R&D process, where each of our models are conceived, designed and tweaked over many months in our factory west of Brisbane, Queensland and all our boats are still made by hand, as they were over 50 years ago when John first started.

It’s this legendary quality, combined with the legendary performance of the Signature Variable Deadrise Hull (SVDH) that make our boats uniquely “Haines”.
