Boat build and performance
The world-patented Signature Variable Deadrise Hull (SVDH) is synonymous with the Haines ride and each boat is built on this revolutionary
hull acclaimed for its performance, planing ability and fuel saving benefits, achieved by its striking 21–33° deadrise. For more info
on the SVDH, check out the About Us page.
RIVALE stands for Resin Injection Vacuum Assisted Low Emission and is a special technology developed by The Haines Group, with the help
of federal funding, that’s a unique closed moulding manufacturing process. RIVALE technology ensures a consistency of product, better
product characteristics, as well as reduced styrene emissions. The 485SF was created and
built using this process (the first of its kind). It’s a 4.85m open fibreglass dinghy with a hull weight of 570kg, can carry up to four
passengers and can be customised with numerous alternative configurations; a feat that’s never been achieved by the marine industry before.
For over 50 years we have proven that we have the strongest and most advanced hull design of any trailer boat on the market in Australia
today. We use specially designed plywood timber in key structural areas. More superior than any marine-grade timber, the individual
layers in our product is treated and protected prior to assembly ensuring no further treatment is needed, even when cut. This strengthens
the build quality of our boats, reducing vibration, creating rigidity and acts as an ideal mounting area for components such as electrics.
Haines Signature also provides the option of our range of boats being built timber-free. This uses Thermo-lite Board which is a lightweight
composite marine-grade product manufactured with cross-linked polymer foam and fibreglass and offers high specific strength and toughness.
Our 788SF model is built using Thermo-lite Board, as standard. Any boat manufactured using the optional Thermo-lite Board in place of the standard ply in the build will be subject to a 5+2 year warranty (5 year structural, 2 year parts).
A number of our boats are built with a fully moulded Nexus liner. This liner is a complete (fibreglass) skin which is bonded to the inside
of the hull and the spaces between the moulds are foam filled. This increases hull strength by up to 30% and gives amazing rigidity, a quiet
ride and allows for an easy clean up after a busy day on the water.
One of the many benefits of our range of boats is their versatility and ability to perform on the water regardless of whether you’re inshore
or offshore, backed by the Signature Variable Deadrise Hull to provide a soft and stable ride to get you there and back safely. For
more info, please refer to the specific boat model page for more features and specifications.
You may be able to find the info you’re after by downloading our Discontinued Models info sheet. For

Your Hull Identification Number or HIN is the serial number provided by the boat manufacturer that uniquely identifies your boat. The
HIN is found on your build plate and is usually made up of a mixture of alphanumeric characters which identify its country of manufacture,
manufacturer name and month and year of manufacture. Please refer to your owner’s manual for a more detailed explanation.
